Local to Global Wellness Issues
The issue of wellness goes far beyond the physical well being of those we serve. We take a comprehensive approach to addressing the entire wellness needs. This includes physical and mental wellness, alternative healing approaches, environmental issues relating to health, emotional impact on health and clean water projects in global areas of need. The Peace And Justice Center provides direct support in some of these areas and collaborates directly with partners to address health and wellness issues locally and globally.

Purified Drinking Water Systems

The most basic need in our world today is water. Every 8 seconds a child dies from water related issues. Without water, there are no crops and there are no animals. Without animals and crops there is no food. Water is the most basic need of everyone human being in the world. The Peace and Justice Center, in collaboration with other non profit groups, is addressing this critical issue.

More than one billion people lack access to a safe supply of drinking water . Water-related diseases are the leading cause of death in the world. This killer takes the lives of more than 14,000 people each day and is responsible for 80% of all sickness in the world. Compounding the problem is the fact that more than 50 percent of the water supply projects in the developing world fail.

Mather says, "We believe it is our call to provide hands on solutions to achieving the millennium development goals. Water is the most basic of all issues that provide people with some hope and some chance at living a healthier life." The Peace and Justice Center currently has 15 purified drinking water systems installed to date in rural communities in the southern most part of Mexico. These systems provide access to clean drinking water for over 25,000 people.
